Montreal, September 23, 2017 - For a second straight year, Canadian-based Silber Pro Cycling has signed one of the top Juniors in the country. In 2017 Charles-Étienne Chrétien won both the road race and criterium at the Canadian Championships. He finished 2nd in the time trial. As a member of the Canadian National Team, Chrétien had a 3rd place and two top 10s at the Tour de l'Abitibi. He is currently representing Canada at the World Championships in Bergen, Norway where he finished 28th in the time trial and 45th in the road race.

Chrétien raced this year with the Iamgold team and he hails from the cycling hotbed of Amos, Quebec. Other current and recent pros from the region include Pierrick Naud (Rally), Karol-Ann Canuel (Boels-Dolmans), Keven Lacombe (Spidertech) and Silber's Marc-Antoine Soucy–to name only a few. The signing of Chrétien will add another punchy rouleur to the Silber roster.

"Last year was the first time we hired a Junior in our history," commented Silber's GM, Scott McFarlane. "Signing Nick Zukowsky worked out very well. He was selected to represent Canada at Worlds as a first year U23, which says something about Cycling Canada's belief in his future."

As he did with Zukowsky, McFarlane took time to get to know Charles-Étienne before offering a contract. "Charles-Étienne is a special rider and person. We wouldn't have offered him a contract otherwise. I am impressed especially by his racing IQ. He showed incredible patience and timing when executing tactics that allowed him to dominate the National championships. Off the bike, he already gets along well with our Quebec riders and he is surrounded by really good people who know the sport well. I can't wait to see what sort of shape he shows up to at our first training camp!"
